How to Apply for Employment

A completed Frederick County Employment Application form is the most effective way to present your background information for County review, and this completed form will be required before hire if you are selected for a County job.  We therefore encourage you to use this form at the time you apply for a Frederick County job.  Unless a recruitment announcement specifies otherwise, a resume and/or other application materials may be submitted to Human Resources without an application form and will be equally considered for interview.

The Frederick County Employment Application form
is available online, and can be submitted to Human Resources electronically as well as printed in hard copy.  If you are unable to access the application form or the full job announcement from the Job Opportunities webpage, contact Human Resources to have the information sent to you by e-mail or by Postal mail. Regular office hours are Monday - Friday; 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.; voicemail is available at all times (301-600-1070).

All applications for advertised Frederick County job opportunities must be submitted to the Division of Human Resources, unless the referenced recruitment announcement gives different instructions for that specific hiring process.

Application materials submitted to Human Resources will be considered "on time" (having met an advertised deadline to apply) if they are:
   - Brought to the Human Resources office during business hours on or before the deadline date;
   - Sent to Human Resources by regular Postal mail, with post-mark date on or before the deadline date;
   - Transmitted to Human Resources electronically before 4 p.m. on the deadline date; or

- Submitted in another manner compliant with special instructions on the referenced job announcement.

Be sure that all materials you submit to Human Resources clearly identify the advertised job title for which your information is to be considered.

Each time you apply, you will receive a reply by letter (Postal mail) to let you know your status in the selection process and to advise of any appointments scheduled for you.

Application forms should not be submitted by FAX.

NOTE:
  The electronic application link is a .PDF file.  Adobe Acrobat 5.0 or higher is required in order to view, complete and print this .PDF file.  If your PC does not already have it, you may download Adobe Acrobat Reader from the following link before opening the electronic application form:  http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep.html

Important Reminders

˜      Carefully read the recruitment announcement for the job that interests you.  It provides details of the job duties, as well as "Qualifications and Requirements" and "Special Requirements" (hiring criteria) that will be considered in the hiring process for the referenced position.  Be sure your application materials include full details of your background related to those stated criteria.

˜      If you are applying for a job that is advertised as "open until filled," submit your application to Human Resources as soon as possible ~ those interviews have already begun.

˜     Employment applicants whose degree is from outside the United States must submit a certified Education Credential Evaluation at the time of application, verifying that their degree equates to the requirements stated for the referenced position.  Sources for this service can be found on the Internet.  The applicant is responsible for any fee charged.

˜      Please do not apply for a job that is not currently shown as an open recruitment.  We do not hold applications on file when there is no advertised vacancy.

˜      Please submit a separate application for each job.

Frederick County Government does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age and/or disability in employment or in the provision of services.
