New! Do you think that the term "Senior Center" could/should be changed? Let us know here.
Purpose
Under the guidelines of the Older Americans Act, nutrition programs offered through the Department of Aging meet the nutritional needs of senior adults as well as promote good health and continued independence. Anyone over the age of 60 (and a younger spouse) has the opportunity to enjoy a nutritious meal in the company of others in a community setting. Frederick County offers lunch at four senior centers on a daily basis and one nutrition site on a weekly basis. Meals are planned and prepared to meet at least one third of the Recommended Dietary Allowance for older adults and follows the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. Nutrition education and health screenings are also offered.
