Department of Homeland Security
The Department of Homeland Security has created a color-coded advisory system so that protective measures can be applied to reduce the possibility or impact of an attack. An explanation of the different threat levels is provided below. When preparing for a certain level, all recommended actions at lower levels should be completed as well.
Red: Severe Risk

Adhere to the restrictions announced by authorities

Prepare to evacuate or shelter, if instructed

Stay alert for messages from emergency officials
Orange: High Risk
- Review your emergency communications plan with your family
- Monitor the news for further information and instructions
- Be patient with delays and restrictions at public buildings
